Artist Statement.

My immersive interdisciplinary work explores enveloping liminal spaces, phasing in and out of coherency, the propagation of waves in various phenomena, anamnesis, entrainment, sonic preservation, the spoken and unspoken, failure, life, death, rebirth, identity, love, inclusivity, and vulnerability. I strive to move fluidly and centered through shared and novel experiences with the grace and elegance one might find in the Japanese Art of Kintsuge. I am fascinated by things that go boing, by the dynamics that can be found between color, sound, movement, texture, density, text, image, song, memory, and the intertwined relationship between the hard and the soft.

I subscribe to the notion that music, sound, image, and video can contain memory, spirit, energy, and intent, and that these elements can potentiate connection between us. My work acknowledges the past and tradition, while playfully exploring new possibility as a means of being. I am purposeful in developing my installations to include the participant in shared dialog and celebration of our commonalities, and to pose questions that ponder possibility.

My latest installation and performative work utilizes Dolby Atmos immersive sound and music that envelopes the listener in a 3 dimensional space covered by 14 high resolution speakers. Contained within this space is original sound design, electro-acoustic music composition, projected image, text, movement, story, lighting design, and video. I perform live within this immersive shared space. These pieces are designed for the participant to freely explore the environment and to evoke a sense of wonder .
